Its OK...but beware of how they rip you off.
I LOVED pitfall as a kid playing on an Atari 2600. But, this is not that game. First off, the control aspect on the iPad is not great. You can be tapping the screen to use the whip, and instead jump or duck. It appears that the sensitivity of their settings is such that if your finger as the slightest Up or down movement it sees it as jump or duck instead of a tap for the whip.
There is also a VERY sleazy thing they do with the diamonds. If you buy a lot of diamonds, all of a sudden, the number of diamonds needed for various things goes up dramatically. For example, if you purchased 8 diamonds, and you die during play, it may ask you for 1 or 2 diamonds to restart. But, if you bought 60 diamonds, it will ask for 36, or even 52 diamonds for the same restart. Sneaky, and shouldnt be allowed!!! As a result...I try to avoid paying them for anything. Apple should look into this...seriously, not cool.
Also, the instructions and rules of play are vague at best. For example, try to find out how long a route is. How far do you have to go to the next level? Nothing tells you. While playing, you can see how far you have gone, but nothing anywhere gives you any idea of how far you have to go before the next level is triggered.
Another very bad feature is that it keeps changing your view perspective. This not only disorients, but it almost makes it a requirement that you buy more diamonds, as they will begin the view changes are really, really tough areas. It also appears that they purposefully put in obstacles that are too close together to make it almost impossible for their buggy control system to react. You should be able to lock a view perspective if desired.
The game is OK...but, just beware...they are definitely trying to milk you out of a lot of bucks. I would say that it is almost impossible to get all the way through it without paying them more and more money. Not cool. I dont mind paying some...but they are REALLY milking it.
